HELLO!
I am still away from my scrapbook supplies. I am in CO visiting family.
All these wild fires are scary! I watch the news coverage and see all the homes burning. It is so sad.
Ok, on to this week's Hoedown Challenge.
I came across this Backpack Box Tutorial durning last week's challenge. It has a pocket on the front...so, I decided to use it for the challenge this week.
I wanted to use the "roo" sentiment. Why? Well, because the nickname for our dog is "Roo." She jumps like a kangaroo when she thinks she's going to get to go for a run or walk. LOL!
The cute image is "Kangaroo" It is a digital image from Hambo Stamps.
I am freaking out a little this week because I found out my group won the lottory to run a half marathon race in January. YIKES! It will be my first race...ever! I guess I get to start training soon. HELP!!!!! :)
Have a great week!

Hoedwon #71-Bailey Liberty
Hello,
This week I don't have access to my own supplies. So, I got to have fun playing with someone else's supplies. :)
I used this dry embossing technique on the stars. I embossed them, sanded them, then cut them out.
This week's cute image from Hambo Stamps is "Bailey Liberty".

Purse Palooza Bag #5-Shopping Bag
This is a shopping bag.
You know...it's a budget/diet friendly shopping bag. LOL!
Actually, the shopping bag is stuffed inside the strawberry bag. See...
I'm sure you guessed that though, right?
This bag is made with Butterick B5621 sewing pattern. There are other versions (other than the strawberry) included in the pattern like a flower, butterfly, and bird.
This is a cute...mostly easy...pattern. The only problem I had was with the binding on the inside corner. I had to google and make several attempts at sewing this corner. I found this tutorial very helpful.

Hambo Hoedown #70-Nun
Hello!
Here is my black and white card for this week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge.
I spent years going to Catholic School. So, as soon as I saw this week's image ("Nun" digi image by Hambo Stamps), I wanted to sit up straight and say, "Yes, Sister!" LOL! It's habit. LOL!
Thought I'd share....I'd made this card after a loooong several days of sewing. Perhaps I should have gone to bed first.
I tried to fix it...it got worse. So, I scrapped it and started over.
Have a great week!

Purse Palooza Bag #4-Emily Bag
I really enjoy browsing all the great items at ithinksew.com. There are so many cute patterns.
This is the bag I made with the Emily Bag Pattern (PDF).
I used the polka-dot fabric for the straps and the bottom--you can kind of see the polka-dot sticking out of the bottom.
This is the inside. I made an oops when I was adding the zip pocket. I made my zipper 9" long. I didn't realize, until it was too late, that that only left 1/2" on each side of the zipper. But it allllll worked out for the good. LOL!. I also added a slip pocket. I just grabbed some fabric that I had sitting out...I've been sewing up a storm the past few days. This Purse Palooza really has me in the mood to sew! Yippee!
I wish I could comment on the instructions, but I only glanced at them.
Have a great day!

Purse Palooza-Bag #3-Emmaline Bag
Emmaline Bag
I am always on the lookout for bag patterns that are cute and for patterns that I don't think I'd be able to make my own version of bag. The moment I came across the Emmaline Bags and Sewing Patterns site, I knew I had to have every one of her patterns. SO CUTE! I love, love, love all the pleats, and shapes of all the bags.
Eventually, I'm sure I'll talk myself into purchasing (or hopefully winning-lol) every single PDF pattern. For now, I decided to show some restraint and started off with the Emmaline Bag ePattern.
Here's the bag I made. So CUTE!
The pattern instructions are very clear and well illustrated. I know I'm going to have to make several more of these bags! They are the perfect size. I might have to try to figure out how to add a zipper closure...then I'd be in heaven. A zipper closure is my own personal preference. I always think if I flip upside down everything will fall out of my bag if it's not zipped closed. Now, I'm not sure why I'd be flipping upside down. But...well...you know? LOL!

Cross Body Cell Phone Carrier
I asked my friend what she wanted for her birthday. She told me that she wanted a cell phone carrier that can be can be carried cross body. So, after searching on the Internet and much creative block on my part, I finally came up with this. There is a pocket on the front to carry her cell phone.
This is the back. The strap is removable and can be adjusted.

Purse Palooza -Bag #2
Hello!
Whew this bag took longer than I thought it would take to make.
I used some fabric that has been lingering around here for waaaay to long...longer than me in fact. (Hubby bought fabric before we'd even met.) I can't believe it's made all those moves and I hadn't tossed it.
This bag is made with Simplicity Pattern #1932, view D.
I changed the inside slightly....I wanted more pockets. But the pockets didn't turn out the way I wanted them to. Next time I'll have to improve the inside pockets.
Have a great day!

Purse Palooza Bag #1
I created this bag for Purse Palooza 2012.
This is my own pattern. I was trying to create a cross body bag. This still could be a cross body bag, if I changed the strap. But, I thought I'd get one made then make changes on the next bag.
This bag is about 15"tall (not including the strap), 12" wide and 4.5"deep.
Here is the bag with the flap open. There are two pockets on the outside and 4 pockets on the inside.
I'm having trouble coming up with a name for this bag....any suggestions?
