 Hello!
It's Hambo Hoedown time again!  Whoo hoo!  :)

I have a bunch of  family birthday's coming up.  So, I have been trying to make birthday cards whenever possible.
This week I used Party Elephant digital image from Hambo Stamps.

I'm Experimenting....

Happy Hambo Hoedown time!  I forgot how much fun it can be to make cards.  :)
This week's challenge is to use BUBBLES!
Supplies:  Test Tubes Digital Image from Hambo Stamps,
Embossing folder-Sizzix Altercations by Tim Holtz
Starburst Punch-Martha Stewart Crafts
I actually saw the layout of the half circles on a picture of a bag on Pintrest.  I'm not able to find the original source of the picture.  Anywho, as soon as I saw this I figured I could use it for this week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge.  So, I did!  :)
Photo from Pintrest
On a different note....speaking of bags....some of you may know that I also LOVE to make bags, aprons, wallets...etc.  Until now I've only given my creations as gifts or sold them to friends, family, neighbors and friends of friends, family and neighbors.  I also have quite a collection of bags that I've never used cluttering my craft room.  So, I've been thinking that I might try to sell via my blog and Paypal.  I know that there are sites that can advertise your items for you but, as my card says...I'm experimenting. :) I just finished a bag that I might be selling.  So, if you are interested please check back on Tues.

Hoedown #116

While searching on the Internet at some point, I saw a picture--I think of a book--that had "change the way you see everything."  I decided to use it for this card.
I used Reading Boy Digital Image from Hambo Stamps. The alphabet is Cricut CraftRoom Basics.

Hambo Hoedown #115

Hello!
I haven't been making cards lately.  I've barely kept up with my sewing, but it's all good.  At least I had quite a stash of cards to use.
I wanted to make a card for my friends birthday, which is tomorrow.  Happy Birthday! So, I checked out this week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge.  It is to use punches.  I decided to use Candles-Digital Stamp from Hambo Stamps.  Since, this is a "milestone" birthday for my friend--the BIG 29, again-- I decided that allll those candles would catch the paper on fire!  So, I burnt the edges.  :)
For punches, I used McGill's Burch Leaf, EK Success's Daisy and Scalloped Tag, and Sunburst from Martha Stewart Crafts.

Hambo Hoedown #90-Toaster

A Toast to TIM!

Ahhh!  It's one of my FAVORITE times of the week!  Hambo Hoedown!!!! This week we get to toast Tim, the wonderful illustrator of Hambo Stamps.  Every week that I participate in Hambo Hoedown, I look forward to the e-mail with  Hambo Stamps new digital image.  It ALWAYS makes me smile.

Tim...Happy Birthday!  May you have many more happy birthdays!

This week's challenge is to make a project that shows:
1.  Burned edges OR using the soot technique
OR
2.  Checkerboard OR gingham patterns.

I chose to used burned edges.

Yep, this was a burn the house down kind of fun challenge!   Thank goodness I had the smarts enough to stand by the sink to catch my paper on fire.  The water came in very handy.  :)

This week's fun digital image is "Toaster" by Hambo Stamps.

Enjoy your week!

HYCCT-Day #31 AND Hambo Hoedown

HYCCT1231-A Walk in the Woods
Hambo Hoedown #89-Neon Cactus
Well, this is it!  It is the laaaast Hope You Can Cling To Challenge this year.  It has been such a fun October!!!
Today, I combined two challenges.  The HYCCT challenge is to be inspired by the outdoors.  This week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge is to use NEON.

I decided to make a Swing (Flip Flop) Card.  Tutorial can be found here
I pulled out all the neon cardstock I had and used it on this card.  :)
The fun image and sentiment is "Cactus" digital image from Hambo Stamps.
I used PTI's-Sunshine Embossing Plate, and Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.

Enjoy and have a Happy Halloween!

Hambo Hoedown-Tooth Fairy

HAAAA!  This week's new Hambo Stamps digital image "Tooth Fairy" is so funny!  Love it and the sentiments!

The challenge this week is to use hexagons.  I do not own a hexagon shape so I had to ad-lib a little.  As you can tell my free-hand cutting ability is about as good as my drawing ability...my drawn stick figures ALMOST resemble stick figures.
The banner is a Coluzzle shape.  Yep, I still use my Coluzzle even though it is no longer made.
Enjoy your week!

Hope You Can Cling To-Day #17 and Hambo Hoedown #87

Hello!

Well....I don't know how well I pulled it off, but I managed to combine two challenges in this card.  I was having fun...playing.

Today's HYCCT challenge is to use a decorative edge.  I hope that the beaded circles from Spellbinders would be considered a decorative edge.  If not, I used some pinking shears I have that are from Provo Craft...had these scissors a looong time.

This week's digital image from Hambo Stamps is "Cells."  Oh my goodness!  I LOVE the sentiments that are on this digi.  This week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge is to use circles.

Ok, are you ready?
Here is my card:
LOL!  The wind kept blowing as I was trying to take this pic.
I used Spellbinders Beaded Circles and Circles to make this easel card.  I also used some pinking scissors to cut the "Cellebrate Life!" sentiment.  The cells are attached to transparency circles that I die cut.  I used curled up paper covered wire so that this can be smashed down to put in an envelope.
Enjoy your day!

Hope You Can Cling To-Day #10 and Hambo Hoedown

Happy Wed.!
I was able to combine two FUN challenges!  WHOO HOOO!
Today's HYCCT challenge is titled "Ship Shape."  We get to make a card that is shaped.  I made this card in the shape of Hambo Stamps digital image "Walrus."
For this week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge we get to use watercolors!  I have to admit I had fun playing with the watercolors.  It has been a while since I've pulled these out.  Plus, the Walrus image is perfect to use watercolors with.

I hand cut the sign.  That silver thing is a tiny nail head.....I used a very unloved nail die  from Sizzix and cut the bottom part off.
Laters alligators!

Oh, Bailey Dog is too cute!  I've always said they {kids, dog} are cute for a reason....

This week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge is to use sparkle.

I used glitter glue for Bailey's Devil costume.  This week's image is "Bailey Devil" digital image from Hambo Stamps.

Enjoy your week!

Hambo Hoedown #84-Harvest Bunny

Happy Hoedown!

How sweet is this week's image...I guess that's actually a statement not a question.  Here, I'll try again.  This weeks image is SWEET!  Better?  :)  It is "Harvest Bunny" digital image from Hambo Stamps.
I'm having issues with taking pictures tonight.

For the oval shape on the sketch, I used the Cricut Fabulous Finds Cartridge to cut an oval bookplate.  It is hard to see but I did add some zig zag stitching.
I've had the paper that I used on this card waaaay too long.  It is from an old scrapbook kit company that is no longer in business.
To attach the twine, I attached two eyelets on the top and two eyelets on the bottom and looped the twine through those eyelets.  Do you want to know how I got that idea?  Well, it's because I usually tape the twine to the back...but my kids took off with my tape.  I keep buying more tape and it keeps disappearing.  So, that's the long story of why my twine is attached that way.  :)
Anyway!  Although it is hard to tell because it is still warm 'round here, you can actually tell it's autumn.  Well, OK, so my allergies are telling me it autumn.  :)
Have a great week!

Here is my card using this weeks Hambo Stamps digital image "Bird Balloon."

For the  chevron I used a chevron mask and some markers.
Enjoy your week!

Mummy Bag

Hello again!
I had fun playing, again.  Like the bag I made yesterday, I made this for the Hambo Hoedown Challenge.
For this bag I used "Mummy" digital image from Hambo Stamps.  I colored it in on the computer and printed it on a t-shirt transfer.  I ironed the transfer  to a torn rectangle of muslin.

Here is my little tutorial on how I made this bag.  I used muslin.
Seam Allowance is 1/4"
Cut two pieces 24" long by 14" wide.
Cut two pieces 18" long by 4" wide for handles.
Tear several strips of fabric.

To make the lining:
1.  Fold one 24"x14" piece of fabric in half matching the 14" sides.  Your fabric will be 12"x14".  Press a crease on the fold.
2.  Along the bottom fold and the edge measure and mark a 1 1/2" square on each side.  Cut this square out.
3.  Then sew along the edge from the top of the bag to the square you cut out.  Do this on the other side.  Press the seams open.
4.  Match the side seam with the bottom crease and sew the edge closed.  (this will be the side width of the bag).  Repeat on other side.
Set the lining aside.

For the front of the bag follow steps 1 and 2.
Then randomly sew the torn strips of fabric to the front of the bag.  I used a zig zag stitch to attach them.  I only sewed the strips to the front of the bag (stopping at roughly the top of the cut out square--aka the bag bottom edge)  but you could sew the strips to your entire 24"x12" piece of fabric.

For the Handles, fold and press each 18"x 4" strips of fabric in half so you have a 2" by 18" strip.  Fold in each long raw edge to the center crease.  Then fold in half again.  You will now have a 1" by 18" strip.  Edge stitch along each long side.  I zig zag'ed a torn strip of fabric  down the center of each handle.
On the front measure 5" in from each side edge  mark along the top of the bag.  Repeat on other side.  Then repeat for the back of the bag.
Place handles with the side of the handle touching the 5" mark and stitch in place.  Repeat for other side of handle.  Then repeat for other handle.
Stitch the front/back together similar to lining (steps 3-4).
Place the "Mummy" image rectangle aligning it with the lines created by the cut out square.
Sew the outside and lining together by placing right sides together and stitching along the top edge. Make sure handles are tucked in out of the way.    Leave an opening for turning ( I left my opening between the handles on the back of the bag).  Turn the bag inside out and press along the top edge.  Then edge stitch along the top edge to finish the bag and to close opening.  On this bag I used a zig zag stitch again.
Please share if you make a bag...leave a message.
Enjoy!

Hambo Hoedown #82-Monster Yell Bag

Hello!
Ah!  We actually had cooler weather this week.  The cooler temps helped my training runs be much easier--as if running is not painful-HA!!  :)
I LOVE fall!  I have been using a scent warmer with a cinnamon-y smell.  MMMMMM!  I am really in the mood to make some Halloween and/or fall items now!   My head is swimming with so many ideas that when I go to make something everything tries to come out at once.   So, please, wish me luck!
Since this week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge is "anything goes",  I attempted something a little different.  I  finally figured out how to crop an image (or sentiment) and how to color on the computer.  It probably helps that I finally got some software installed on the computer, huh?  :)  So, when playing around I printed off a few images to play with...adding to my  ever expanding list of project ideas.  In other words, if time permits there might be some more projects coming soon.
For this treat bag (or gift bag), I colored in and printed on to a t-shirt transfer the Hambo Stamps Digital image "Monster Yell".
I made the little tote  bag out of muslin scraps.  Then I cut out the "Monster Yell" image and ironed it on to the bag.
Enjoy your week!

Hoedown #81-Mouse Painter

HOWDY!!
I hope everyone had a great week!

Here is my entry for this week's Hambo Hoedown using "Mouse Painter" a digital image from Hambo Stamps.

I colored in the Mouse Painter image using a paint brush, water and inks.  I  used the Sizzix-Cityscape die for the bottom.

I have been keeping busy attempting to train for my half marathon. My ankle injury is doing better.  However, my runs have been sluggish with all this heat and humidity.

Have a great week!

Hoedown #80-Wee Henry Karate

Hello!
This week's image is "Wee Henry Karate" it is a digital image from Hambo Stamps.  So CUTE!
I used a chevron mask then sprayed Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist over the top.  I cut two pieces of card stock (kraft and the chevron) the same size and sewed them together.  I then tore the edge of the chevron paper.
Have a wonderful week!

Hoedown #75-Clown Shoes

Have I mentioned that I LoVE polka-dots?  No?
When I wear polka-dot socks I can't help but be happy and smile.

I have been sewing several different items lately.  All of the items I've been making have used some color and size of polka-dots!  :)

Well, on with this week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge.
I used two digital images from Hambo Stamps--Clown Shoes and Candles.

Enjoy your week!
