Pink Peony Bag by Charmed Liebling

I am very late to the game with this post.  Yikes!
This is the Pink Peony Bag from Charmed Liebling.  It is available as a free pattern if you click on this link or go to the Sew Momma Sew Blog.
This is another super cute little bag pattern.  It is very quick and easy to sew.
I LOVE the look of the pleats on the flap.  You can sew either a wrist strap, a shoulder/cross body strap or both.  I love when bags can be versatile like that.
Since this project uses little pieces of fabric, I decided to use some of my children's outgrown clothing.

This is the back of the bag.
I was in the mood for ruffles.  So, I added ruffles to the front and back of this bag.

For this ruffle version I was able to use scraps for the inside and upcycle a pair of outgrown jeans.

Connie Bag

This is the Connie Bag.  The pattern is from the book Making Vintage Accessories by Emma Brennan.

I soooo love the shape of this bag!  I added the flap closure and the bow.  The bow is a pattern from Michelle Patterns.   I tea stained some muslin for the bow.   I purposely wrinkled the fabric.  'Cuz that's the look I was going for.
This is the back of the bag.
I actually made this bag for an event I will be going to soon.  I bought the fabric a few years ago.  I styled the bag to match this skirt.
Have a great day!

Agatha Bag

This is made with the Agatha Bag Pattern designed by Emma Brennan. It can be found in her book Making Vintage Accessories.
I have always been a huge fan of all Emma Brennan's designs!  In fact, her patterns were some of the first bags I ever made.  I learned several bag making techniques from her patterns.  She has a web site (www.CharliesAunt.com) and an Etsy shop (www.CharliesAunt.Etsy.com.)
I made this bag in an afternoon...start to finish.  I have an event to go to and I want to take a smaller bag.  Since these bags are quick to make, I might have enough time to make another bag.  Of course it is out of different fabric.   I happened to have two fabrics that are the right color and style to go with a skirt I have in mind.  Then I will have to decide which goes best with my outfit.   :)

This is the front of the bag.  That scallop detail is actually a working pocket.  I slipped my cell phone in there with no problem.  I'm not sure how well you can tell from the picture, but I also chose to use the wrong side of the fabric to make the scallop pocket.  Yes....I meant to do that.  :)

This is the back of the bag.  For the handle, I used some faux leather that I had left over from a previous project.
The inside of the bag.  I made a divided slip pocket.

Poolside Tote--Noodlehead

Happy Mother's Day!  I just added the final touches on this bag this afternoon.  It's always a good day when I have the opportunity to sew.
This is May's Bag of The Month Club Bag.  It is the Poolside Tote designed by Noodlehead.  This is a great roomy bag!  I love the shape and style of this bag, too.
The bows are not included in this pattern.  I decided to embellish the bag a little bit.  They are made with the Bows Pattern from Michelle Patterns.  These bows are ADORABLE!  There are two sizes of bows included in the pattern.
All of the fabric that I used is from IKEA.  I can not get enough of fabric with text.  As soon as I saw this Poolside Tote Pattern, I knew I had to make a trip to IKEA to buy this fabric.  I had been hoping for a reason.  :)
The Poolside Tote pattern includes a couple of different options for outside pockets.  I made the zipper pocket.
I decided to play around a little bit when I was putting the lining together.  I wanted to see if I could make a zippered divided pocket.  IT WORKED!!!!

Happy Saturday!

I know, this is not a craft project post.  It's something a little different....if you will.
I've had it in my head to make mini cupcakes for the past several days.  Last weekend I attended a few different craft shows.   There is a lady that has a mini cupcake business that she runs out of her home.  She sells them for a little over $1 per mini cupcake.   They are the cutest most scrumptious looking cupcakes!  The person I was with bought a tiny little box of four and was kind enough to share with me.  YUMMMMMYYY!
So, that is why mini cupcakes have been on my mind.  I had to make some.  I dug out my cake decorating supplies and my mini cupcake supplies.  Then got to work.  I even made my own homemade frosting.  How is that for overachieving today?  HA!
They turned out cute--If I can say so myself.
I've been working on an online class today and I keep trying to talk myself out of running down and getting a snack.  Every time I think of these little things I channel Agnes in the movie "Despicable Me!"  I must say "It's so FLUFFY!"  (Click on quote to see clip from movie.  It's toward the end of clip.)  That is one of my favorite sayings.  I guess that's an insight into my warped sense of humor.  It's amazing how applicable it can be in so many different contexts.
Hope you all have a SWEET Saturday!
Enjoy!

Midtown Messenger Bag

This is the Midtown Messenger Bag from Betz White.  It is April's Bag of the Month Club Bag.

Midtown Messenger Bag-front
Lately, I have been making bags for others out of outgrown clothing they provide me.   So, I decided to make a bag from some of my children's outgrown clothing.  This bag was made from a pair of my son's cargo shorts, a pair of jeans, painter's cloth, and scrap fabric.
Since I deiced to use a pocket from the shorts on the front of the flap, I changed the pattern slightly here.  Instead of cutting the flap strip, flap center panel and flap side panel, I used the flap lining panel to cut the top of the flap piece.  The pocket on the flap is useable.
I love the look of the Tuck Catch Closures, but I had a hard time finding them.  There wasn't much of a selection online, either.  I finally had an "Aaaah Haaa! Moment."  I searched for and found the closest leather specialty store.  That is where I got the ones I used.   They were less expensive than the ones I found online, too.

Under the flap there is a divided slip pocket on the front.  I've left the pockets (from the shorts) useable.  Whew!  It was not easy to cut these pieces.

This is a picture of the inside of the bag.  You can see the tablet pocket.  This pocket closes with a Velcro square.
This is the back of the bag.  There is another slip pocket here.  As you can see, this is the top front of the shorts.
I've tried on several occasions to make a "m-urse"  (A.K.A-a bag for a man).  :)   The men in my family  always tell me that the "m-urses" I make are too "girlie."   I thought "Oh ya!  I've got it now!  If I use my son's clothing, then it for sure will be 'manly.'"  So, what did they say when I showed them this bag?..."It looks girlie."  Whatever!  :)

So, what do you think?  Is this a "girlie" bag?

ReLoved Clothing Backpack-- Part 3

Sorry this picture is blurry...I took this pic a long time ago and just now realized that it's blurry.  I no longer have this bag in my possession.  UGGG!
Anywho...If you'll remember back to this post ReLoved Clothing Backpack Part 1, and this post ReLoved Clothing Backpack Part 2, these backpacks are made from ReLoved clothing.  This bag was made for my neighbors son.
The next backpack to be posted is for my neighbor herself.
Y'all come back now....ya hear?!  Yep, I'm old enough to remember what TV show that came from.  :)
